HIV & AIDS Awareness
Program Overview
In Shanzu, HIV doesn’t just impact health—it weighs on silence. In small pathways, corridors, salons, schools, and homes, those living with the virus often carry two burdens: the illness itself, and the fear of being seen. Stigma still whispers in churches, job interviews, friendships—and that silence can be lethal.
This program cracks that silence wide open. It sends peer educators to the frontlines—not with pity, but with power. It builds tents in markets—not to isolate, but to invite. It hands people pamphlets, yes—but also their voice back.
Scope of Activities:
- Deploying trained peer educators into villages, campuses, and workplaces
- Organizing mobile testing drives with discreet, welcoming setups
- Distributing culturally sensitive campaign materials—bold, respectful, informative
- Facilitating transport for outreach teams and community mobilizers
- Creating safe spaces for conversation, questions, and care
Testimonial
I lived ten years hiding my status—even from my own children. When the Shanzu Foundation came to our estate with their tent, their kindness didn’t just test me… it freed me. I finally talked. They listened like I mattered.” — Riziki, Mother of Four
Your support breaks fear’s grip. It transforms silence into strength, stigma into solidarity. Every shilling helps someone take that trembling first step—from hiding, toward healing.
