Program Overview:
In many households across Shanzu, women—especially single mothers—serve as both the financial pillar and emotional anchor of their families. Yet they remain disproportionately excluded from formal economic systems, facing barriers to startup capital, bookkeeping knowledge, licensing, and peer support. This program seeks to advance women’s economic agency and resilience by equipping them with tools, training, and pathways to sustainable microenterprise and group-led financial security.
Program Objectives:
- Equip single mothers with foundational bookkeeping materials and training to promote financial literacy and business sustainability
- Provide targeted startup grants for promising microenterprises in trades such as tailoring, food vending, agribusiness, and local crafts
- Support business licensing, formal registration, and digital identity to unlock market access and dignity
- Integrate beneficiaries into women-led savings and credit groups to enhance long-term financial inclusion and peer accountability
- Facilitate leadership development workshops, peer mentorship, and storytelling forums to amplify women’s voices and entrepreneurial journeys
